I filed into the already bustling auditorium along with the crowd around me. All walking like penguins, a step to the right, a step to the left, only moving forward slightly with each pace, we were patiently, yet eagerly filed into seats at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House. We were all here for the 21st Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
As I got seated toward the back and below the balcony, I looked around me. There were still empty seats to either side of me, but even as the program was ready to begin, people were still entering in droves. Hundreds of us were there for celebration and reinvigoration. Well, most of the hundreds of us were.
