As a LESer for the last 25+ years of my life, I can tell you there's no such thing as an LES handshake. There are a couple of hand signs we do, and we throw around "6th Boro" every so often (when sometimes I believe we're just an extension of BK) but no handshake here.

Secondly, that's a little off-putting for me too. I would have had a funny face. And then I would have wondered how did they get into my neighborhood (HA!)
